ATXHackForChange is a weekend-long event Saturday, May 31st – Sunday, June 1st, that brings together entrepreneurs, coders, nonprofits, developers and other technologically savvy individuals to improve the world through code. This year marks Austin’s second National Day of Civic Hacking, and while the term hacking is often interpreted negatively and affiliated with computer hackers stealing personal data, civic hacking refers to “a creative, often technological approach to solving civic problems.” (Click here for more information.)
On Saturday, while the HackForChange teams hard at work innovating and improving their unique social endeavors, Live Oak Legacies and eleven other civically minded companies will present their work to attendees, both to provide information about each organization and inspire increased civic engagement in our community. We are scheduled to present at 3:45pm, and the full schedule and list of presenters is available at http://atxhackforchange.org/showcase/. The event is free to attend, and registration is recommended but not required. St. Edwards is located at 301 S. Congress Avenue, and there is a link to RSVP on the showcase website above.
Come out this weekend and support Live Oak Legacies and the other truly inspirational projects that are working to improve our community every day. Have a great rest of your week, and we look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
