Sneak Peak - Olyvia Green's Portrait Video

Kathryn Gonzales

Late last year, Storyhouse had the honor of interviewing Mrs. Olyvia Green, Pease Elementary's first Black teacher. We turned her story into 30-minute feature which will be airing on the AISD network tonight (Feb. 24th) at 8:30, Thursday Feb. 26th at 9:30pm and Friday Feb. 27th at 9:30pm. Tune in to AISD-TV (Channel 22) on Time Warner and Grande Systems, website, on Roku (private channel code: and on the channel 99 menu system on U-verse.

We're also excited to honor her with a special screening of her Portrait Video (a 10min version of her story) which she will see for the first at the school's African American Heritage Assembly.

Here is a special sneak peak of her video!

"Texanisms" by Grandma LaRue

Kathryn Gonzales

Storyhouse interviewed sweet Grandma LaRue in September 2014. Just before we shut off the camera, we asked her to share with us some of her most beloved sayings. Full disclosure, we had help from the family in prompting her to repeat these hilarious -isms, which will likely stir up some memories for any Texas grandkid.

What Grandma-isms do you remember?
